HOUT CUISINE - WOOD FOR FOOD

Handcrafted from solid timber, Hout Cuisine heirlooms offers a glimpse into the past, whilst keeping future generations in mind. Our handcrafted products are finished with traditional shellac or a poly-wax sealant (at least 6 coats of each) and will be sympathetic to the skills of even the most inexperienced chef. Below are some of our creations.

HOUT CUISINE ROLLING PINS

"Everyone is kneaded out of the same dough but not baked in the same oven."- Yiddish proverb

In keeping with this proverb, it is also fair to say that not all rolling pins are created equal...there are rolling pins, and then there are Hout Cuisine rollin pins.

Each rolling pin is created from a solid piece of indigenous wood that is selected to add some flair to any kitchen. To ensure that your Hout Cuisine rolling pin never ends up out of sight or in a drawer, each one is supplied with a display stand.

Hout Cuisine rolling pins require no maintenance, apart from a wipe with a damp cloth after use - the seven layers of shellac will ensure that it retains its handsome good looks for many years to come.

Whether you are looking for a French-style pin to roll out delicate pastries, or a "Makhulu"-roller to beat some dough into shape, look no further.

HOUT CUISINE PESTLE & MORTAR

"I dig up this plant, of herbs the most potent, by whose power rival women are overcome, and husbands are obtained."- Atharva Veda

Stone-age Kenwood Chef... Nothing beats a good old-fashion mortar & pestle to bring out the best flavours.

HOUT CUISINE MILLS

"The disparity between a restaurant's price and food quality rises in direct proportion to the size of the pepper mill.."- Bryan Miller

Hout Cuisine mills feature durable ceramic and stainless steel mechanisms, making them suitable for use with salt or pepper. The sturdy metal arm ensures a strong grinding action and the compact size fits in any hand. All Hout Cuisine mills are finished inside and out with a very durable poly-wax sealer.

"A hen is only an egg's way of making another egg."- Samuel Butler
